Where the name Beatrice comes from
Beatrice comes from the Latin name Beatrix, which was probably first Viatrix, “traveller”, but was changed to look like the Latin word for blessed. It is famous as the name of the woman Dante loved and wrote about in his poetry. Queen Victoria gave it to her youngest daughter, and Princess Beatrice of York carries it today.
